Partnership with Kigoto Moravian Church
In October of 2010 in response to a request from the Kigoto Moravian Church Board of Elders, Calvary Moravian is in the process of forming a sister relationship with brothers and sisters in Tanzania. We hope the relationship will be a tangible way to promote mutual prayer, cooperation and support.
Intervarsity Christian Fellowship at Clemson University
Calvary Moravian also supports the work of Dusty Harrison, a son of our congregation, who is serving as a full-time Intervarsity worker at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. Dusty particularly works to facilitate Intervarsity’s ministry among students belonging to fraternities and sororities.
The Forsyth County Jail and Prison Ministry
Through the auspices of the Board of Evangelism and Home Missions of the Moravian Church, Southern Province, Calvary Moravian is a partner congregation in support of the Rev. Robert Wolfe, a Moravian Chaplain with the Forsyth County Jail and Prison Ministry.
Winter Overflow Homeless Shelter
Calvary Moravian is a partner with other Winston-Salem organizations in providing food and volunteers for a local Overflow Winter Homeless Shelter. The shelter is housed at Augsburg Lutheran Church between December 1 – March 31 of each year. Women’s Circles, Sunday School classes, and other groups in the church help provide meals, snacks and overnight volunteers.
Operation Christmas Child
Calvary is one of many local congregations that partners with Samaritan’s Purse in their Operation Christmas Child program. Shoe boxes are filled by congregation members for an annual Christmas distribution to children in Third World countries. Samaritan’s Purse
H.O.P.E. (Help our People Eat) uses community-wide volunteer support in Winston-Salem to prepare and bring nutritious weekend meals to Forsyth County’s 40,000 children who are at risk for hunger. Calvary supplies volunteers who help pack meals and participate as well in weekly distribution. H.O.P.E. of Winston-Salem
