Announcement Regarding COVID-19

Dear Church Family,

In light of the COVID-19 virus, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper advised against gatherings of more than 100 people in North Carolina, including conferences, assemblies, sporting events, concerts and worship services.

Upon the governor’s recommendation, the Provincial Elders’ Conference of the Moravian Church, Southern Province issued a statement yesterday to strongly encourage all congregations, fellowships and emerging ministries of our province (NC, VA, SC, GA, FL) to suspend worship services and other large gatherings beginning this Sunday March 15 through Sunday, March 29.

Upon receipt of this recommendation from PEC, the Joint Board of Calvary Moravian Church has decided that it is in everyone’s best interest that we suspend gathering for Sunday School, worship, Calvary at the Table, and all musical rehearsals for the next two weeks beginning this Sunday and continuing through Sunday, March 29. At which time, we will reassess the situation and be in touch.

However, we will continue to hold meetings at their regularly scheduled times (no child care will be provided ). Please use your own judgment about attending.

Though we will not be gathering as a physical body for worship, the pastors and music staff will continue to provide worship via live-stream. You may access the live-stream service on the home page of our website by clicking on the watch button under “Online Service.” Additionally, after worship, your pastors will be available on Calvary Moravian’s Facebook page live for 20 minutes to answer any questions and offer prayer.

The mission of the church continues even during this time of challenge and it is imperative to the health and vitality of our congregation that we continue to support the church’s mission by sharing in live-stream worship and continuing to offer our regular financial support.

Your tithes and offerings can be mailed to the church office (600 Holly Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27101) or you may use our online giving service which is found on our website On the homepage, click on GIVING which is the last pull down menu on the far top right.

The pastors will continue to be available for crises and pastoral care during this time, so please feel free to contact us by email (; or through the church office. (336-722-3703)

As we all know, this situation is fluid and changes by the hour! As things evolve, we will continue to update you regularly via email, our website, and social media. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Though this is a difficult time, it is also an opportunity for us to truly be the body of Christ, that invisible fellowship of believers joined together not by a building, but by our mutual faith in Jesus Christ.

Grace and peace,

Lane A. Sapp, Pastor

Chair of the Joint Board
