The Rt. Rev. Lane A. Sapp
Bishop Sapp has served as the pastor of Calvary since 1996. He graduated from High Point College with a major in religion. He then attended Moravian Theological Seminary in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he received his Master of Divinity degree in 1987. Brother Sapp was ordained on June 14, 1987 at Clemmons Moravian Church, his home congregation. In 1987 he was called to be organizing pastor of Good Shepherd Moravian Church in Kernersville, NC.
Director of Music and Christian Education
Amanda Moody-Schumpert is the Director of Music and Christian Education at Calvary Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, where she has served since the fall of 2009. Originally from Kingsport, TN, Amanda completed undergraduate and graduate degrees in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, and a post-graduate degree in Opera Performance as part of the Fletcher Opera Institute from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Amanda is also the Director of UNCSA’s SummerVoice Intensive – a program designed to encourage and prepare middle and high school aged students for a college career in voice.
Mary Louise Kapp Peeples
Mary Lou Kapp Peeples earned her music degrees at Salem College and the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Margaret and John Mueller, and Russell Sanders. She has performed numerous recitals in the United States and France, including a recital at St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue in New York. Her performances have been heard on National Public Radio and on Alabama and North Carolina Public Radio. She was selected by internationally renowned organist Marie-Clair Alain to study privately with her in Paris for two years. During this time she served as assistant organist/choirmaster for Susan Landale at St. George’s Anglican Church in Paris, as harpsichord accompanist for flute students of Jean-Pierre Rampal, and was nominated for the finals in the Chartres International Organ Competition.
Paul F. Knouse, Jr.
Paul F. Knouse, Jr. completed over 31 years of service with R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, a subsidiary of Reynolds American, Inc. in Winston-Salem, NC, in March 2010. During his RJR tenure, Paul held a variety of marketing positions in both Brand Marketing and Direct Marketing. His marketing career includes experience in the USA market, France and Puerto Rico. In addition to 8 years experience in Brand Marketing, Knouse spent 23 years in Direct and Database Marketing. He retired from RJR as Senior Department Manager in the 1 to 1 Communications Group, responsible for database marketing on multiple RJR brands. He served for more than 18 years as RJR’s representative for the Promotion Marketing Committee of the Association of National Advertisers (ANA). Paul was the chair of the Promotion Marketing Committee from 2002 to 2005 and represented RJR at all major ANA national conferences and meetings as well as at national meetings of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA).
Pastoral Intern / Youth Director
Marc has served as Youth Director at Calvary since August of 2015, leading Sunday School and Wednesday night programming for Calvary’s youth. During the summer of 2017, he will serve as Pastoral Intern at Calvary, taking on greater responsibilities in the everyday life of the congregation. You can find him preaching on occasion, participating in worship, and leading the youth on various outings in the community.
